Alaskan Fourth of July fireworks are underwhelming — since the sun doesn’t set during the summer. But this was pleasant — and the explosions echoed off the mountains and tumbled out across Resurrection Bay.
And then, drinking an iced latte, I watched the end of the Mt. Marathon Race — wherein the runners actually climb Mt. Marathon (1.5 miles, 3200 vertical feet) and subsequently descend. Everyone ends up covered in mud.
I thought about running in the race — but decided to eat a cheeseburger, instead.
