Here it is — the much-discussed image from the Sarah Palin website. This is unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. I actually think that, as I prepare to go to Egypt, where violence has marked the political process over the past year — perhaps the violence is actually just right here, in America.

I am deeply saddened by what has happened.

Those poor people who lost their lives. A child. A husband who lay on top of his wife to save her. A public servant. A federal judge. This is a cross-section of our democracy, of everything that is threatened by violent rhetoric and political anger.

Judge for yourself: Does someone who puts this kind of image on their website deserve to be a part of our public discourse?
